Thank you for your interest in attending Cypress Junction Montessori (CJM). It is our goal to make an authentic Montessori education available to all students in Greater Winter Haven. Enrollment for the 2016-2017 school year is determined through a random lottery selection, drawing first from all students applications completed during open enrollment (February 19 – March 18, 2016) and then drawing from the secondary lottery pool which consists of any students who apply after March 18, 2016. This application can be completed by clicking the links below. Please refer to the information below on eligibility, lottery processes and enrollment acceptance procedures. Should you have any additional questions, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to a great school year!

CJM accepts applications from any student residing in Polk County or who is covered by an interdistrict agreement, with a primary focus on service students in the Greater Winter Haven area. All students must have successfully completed the previous grade level, or be the correct age on or before September 1st the year they are applying for.
Lottery Process – Kindergarten through 8th Grade
CJM’s Kindergarten through 8th grade programs operate as a Polk County Charter School, allowing us to offer an authentic Montessori education that is equally accessible to all eligible students in Polk County. CJM will not discriminate based upon factors such as race, religion or disability.
The following students will have preference in admission:
- Siblings of students currently enrolled at the School. Section 1002.33(10)(d)(1), Florida. Statutes (2014).
- Children of School staff and the founding board of directors. Sections 1002.33(10)(d)(2) & (3), Florida Statutes (2014).
Following the enrollment preferences, all students who submit a complete application on or before the deadline will have an equal opportunity to attend CJM. All applications will be entered into a lottery drawing and applications from each grade level will be drawn randomly for available seats. An applicant waiting pool will be established if there are more applicants than spaces. As a space becomes available during the applicable school year, an eligible student will be randomly selected from the applicant waiting pool to fill the space.
Applications will be accepted year-round. Any applications received after the deadline will be placed in the secondary waiting pool. In the event the applicant waiting pool is exhausted and there is an availability, an eligible student will be randomly selected from the secondary waiting pool to fill the space.
The applicant pools do not carry over to the following year school year. Parents and guardians still interested in enrolling students in CJM will need to reapply during the application period to enter the random lottery process as part of the following year’s applicant pool.
Students can only be removed from the applicant or secondary waiting pool if the parent/guardian requests the student be removed in writing. Submitting an application to CJM does not remove you from any other charter, magnet or choice school waiting lists or lottery pools.
The initial lottery for the 2016 school year will be held Monday, March 28, 2016 with notices in the mail no later than the first week of April.
Enrollment Procedures – Kindergarten through 8th Grade
The parent/guardian indicated on the application will be notified of the lottery results via email, text message and/or USPS mail. An enrollment paperwork package will be made available and must be completed by the enrollment due date in order to finalize enrollment in Cypress Junction Montessori for the 2016/2017 school year. Failure to complete and return the enrollment packet by the date will result in forfeiting the seat and another student will be randomly selected from the applicable waiting pool.

Summer Camp Program
CJM plans to host a summer camp program beginning the summer of 2017! Students will have the opportunity to experience field trips, special recreation activities, arts activities and light academics to keep them sharp, entertained and nurtured all summer long without a drastic change to the family’s schedule over the summer. Stay tuned for more information! The may be opportunities for children to attend even if they are not enrolled in CJM during the school year.
What is a Charter School?
A charter school is a public school that is free to students and funded by the state on a per-student basis. CJM will receive the same amount of funding as other public and magnet schools in Winter Haven. The school will serve students in Kindergarten through 8th grade. We will also have a VPK and 3 year old preschool on campus.
What is Montessori?
Montessori is a method of education that is based on self-directed activity, hands-on learning and collaborative play. In Montessori classrooms children make creative choices in their learning, while the classroom and the teacher offer age-appropriate activities to guide the process. Many of the world’s innovators and influencers are Montessori students. Some names you may recognize are Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, Beyonce Knowles, YoYo Ma, Julia Child, David Blaine, Anne Frank, George Clooney, Taylor Swift, Wikipedia exec Jimmy Wales, Dakota Fanning and Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.
