Position Title: Extended Care Program Counselor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Pay: Based on years of experience ($11-$13/hr)

Hours: 6:30am-8:00am – and/or – 2:30pm-6:00pm

The mission of Cypress Junction Montessori (CJM) is to provide a high-quality education for all students.

Cypress Junction Montessori is seeking highly qualified individuals with a passion to bring Montessori curriculum to the Winter Haven Community and a desire to develop personally and professionally. Our Extended Care employees will be an extension of the classroom for our students and will need to be flexible, aware and available in a manner different than traditional employees.

Custom Job Purpose:

This position exists solely to perform responsible and specialized work regarding the coordination and oversight of extended care programs for students both before and after school hours.

Essential Functions of this Job:

Coordinate the development and implementation of the After School Program. Coordinate academic, cultural and recreational programming for students.  Maintain sign-in/sign-out logs and participant files with all required paperwork. Oversee facility management including custodial, safety, classroom, and security for activities and events that take place before or after schoo.  Submit all required documents on a timely basis including attendance. Establish and maintain partnership/communication with school staff and other collaborators.

Ability to handle confidential information appropriately. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to work effectively with diverse students, staff, parents and community members. Ability to learn computer skills sufficient to perform all essential functions. Ability to make home visits and travel.

Education, Experience and/or Certification/License Requirements:

Graduation from an accredited high school or completion of GED preferred. Department of Children and Families 45 hour training required (can be completed upon hire).

Work Context:

Requires some bending, carrying, climbing, crawling, kneeling, lifting, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, sitting, standing, and walking to coordinate work. Requires the use of alternative communication systems such as electronic mail, telephones and computers. Requires coordination of work tasks to establish priorities, set goals and meet deadlines. Requires face-to-face discussions and contact with students and staff, work with individuals, teams, and community partners.

Physical Environment:

Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. Requires work at playgrounds, at other such outdoor areas where students may congregate. Requires ability to lift, carry, move and/or position objects infrequently weighing up to 20 pounds.
